In First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) electoral system, in each constituency, the candidate who receives the most votes wins the seat- even if they do not have an absolute majority.
For example, if Candidate A gets 40% of the votes, Candidate B gets 35%, and Candidate C gets 25%, Candidate A wins the seat.
In a Proportional Representation (PR) system, voters typically vote for political parties rather than individual candidates. Parties then receive seats in the legislature in proportion to the percentage of votes they receive nationwide or across large regions.
For example, if a party wins 30% of the national vote, it would receive roughly 30% of the seats in Parliament.
